ANESSA works to improve environmental issues in waste management by introducing a new way of analyzing and optimizing the utilization of organic and agricultural waste material to produce biogas and subsequently convert it to renewable natural gas (RNG) and renewable electricity. We aim to help the industry start more viable and sustainable biogas projects globally. We are looking for a dedicated Environmental Policy Specialist to support the implementation and monitoring of environmental policies and biogas credit programs at ANESSA.

The Environmental Policy Specialist is a cornerstone position in our technical team, responsible for developing subject matter expertise around environmental policies and biogas tax credits. The position places a special focus on the following:

  • The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS)
  • California’s Air Resources Board’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS)
  • Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations

This position will apply their expertise on their day-to-day through working directly with ANESSA’s technical and project delivery team. The chosen individual will assist in the evaluation of biogas opportunities providing their strategic input relating to environmental policy and biogas tax credits. In addition to this, the chosen individual will periodically collaborate with the marketing team to create policy-related content.

This role reports directly to the Chief Technical Officer and is the voice of the market within ANESSA, providing the latest updates around North American Clean Fuel policy, and ensuring the timely implementation of these new findings within ANESSA’s offering.

Responsibilities:

  • Gain a baseline understanding of ANESSA’s active markets, offerings, and the policies that affect ANESSA and its clients
  • Manage and organize documentation related to policy in an intuitive manner for internal reference
  • Maintain information updated by constantly monitoring the market for regulatory updates
  • Periodically engage with clients to respond to information requests regarding environmental policies
  • Collaborate internally and proactively communicate with the team to share relevant insights
  • Periodically collaborate with Marketing to create policy-related content.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a relevant role
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant Environmental Science, Engineering, Accounting or a related field is preferred
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated baseline understanding of environmental policy.
  • Experience in bioenergy and knowledge on EPA’s RFS, CARB’s LCFS and the CFR is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively with teams and independently.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics.
